The Gospel Music Legends Of Our Time

Posted by on 09/01 at 05:56 PM

Over the past twenty years or so, gospel music has lost many legends from
Glenn Payne, GeorgeYounce, Vestal Goodman, Anthony Burger, Roger Bennett,
Jake Hess, J.D. Sumner and many others. These folks were really legends for my
parents and maybe yours. In this blog, I would like to have some input on who would
be considered legends of our day. I would suggest maybe Ivan Parker,
Brian Free, Tim Riley, Michael English, Derek Boyd, Gerald Wolf, Jeff Stice, Danny Funderburk,
Phil Cross, just to name a few,, who would be on your shortlist?
Blessings

  1. I would say The Hinsons as many of the original group are still traveling and ministering, as well as a new Generation of The Hinsons that are traveling and singing. They are great people, some of which are friends of mine, I went to chirch with Yvonne and her family for a number of years, great folks, whose family keeps going, for example Bo HInson, Weston Hinson and many of the originals.

    Also, the Crabb Family.

There are many groups out there today that claim they are Southern Gospel, (won't name names), but they are really not Southern Gospel.

  5. The group photo has been down for a while. Do you still have a group? What happened to the live music you started with? I hear you've resorted to using tracks. What's with that?

  6. Hello, and thank you for your interest in our group. We have re-organized the group with a new line-up of wonderfully talented singers. Yes we abandoned the live music, didnt make good financial sense to travel with a live band. However we have a phenominal piano player who travels with us on select dates. Yes we utilize tracks, they seem to be more consistant and dont have to feed them. Tracks were professionally done by Steve Allen, a great producer at SquarOne Studios in Franklin Tennessee. Drum tracks done by one of the best drummers in gospel music today, Arron Minnick. We are excited about our travels in 2009, which kicks off December 29, in Okechobee Florida.
    Till next time.
    Blessings
